In announcing that the eighth season would be the last, Plec said to the Comic-Con crowd, “It’s bittersweet and emotional and we’re all going to be crying in about five minutes but we wanted to be the ones to tell you guys first because you’ve been with us on this run and it’s been a lovely run”. Finale date for the series is yet to be announced soon. It is said that there will be no filling episode and that every minute of each episode will be eventful.

“Season 8 will be my last”, Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie Bennett, told Us Weekly on April 3. According to the same publication, Malarkey wants a happy ending for his character. Plec has said in previous interviews that she has always planned for her return for the show’s eventual series finale.

He also talked about the next season’s villain, which he calls the “final bad”, saying it’s a “cool way to infuse Mystic Falls with this ultimate evil”.

There have been reports suggesting that Nina Dobrev will return in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8. “We’ll still dabble in the past, visit memories, that sort of thing”. Sources confirm that Nathalie Kelley, who is best known for playing Grace on the first season of “UnREAL”, is going to be appearing as the extremely villainous and manipulative character Sybil on the final season of the show.
