The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Willie Corey Godbolt, was apprehended and changed to a sanatorium to accept diagnosis for a gunshot wound. Authorities did not explain how he postulated it.

It’s not transparent what a attribute is between Godbolt and a victims, and authorities have not suggested a motive. But a video published by The Clarion-Ledger, that shows Godbolt articulate to a reporter, suggested a killings happened during a family dispute.

Godbolt, sitting on a travel with his hands cuffed behind his back, pronounced he had been concerned in a contention with his mother and her family about their children. “I was carrying a review with her stepdaddy and her mom and her, my wife, about me holding my children home,” he said.

Godbolt combined that he wanted to die. “My intentions was to have God kill me. we ran out of bullets,” he said. “Suicide by patrolman was my intention. we ain’t fit to live, not after what I’ve done.”

Mississippi Bureau of Investigation’s Warren Strain described how a events unfolded in an emailed matter to NPR:

“The sheriff’s deputy, identified as William Durr, was fatally shot after responding to an puncture call per a domestic brawl late on Saturday night during a chateau in Bogue Chitto, a tiny village about 69 miles south of Jackson, a state capital.

“Godbolt also killed 3 females during a house, Strain said, before streamer to another chateau in a circuitously city of Brookhaven and fatally sharpened dual boys, Strain said. He afterwards headed to a third residence to kill a masculine and a womanlike victim. Except for a deputy, a victims have not been identified.”

Durr had a mother and 11-year-old son, and was training to attend in a Drug Abuse Resistance Education module in internal schools, according to The Daily Leader.

In a statement, Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant described a occurrence as a “senseless tragedy.”

“Every day, a group and women who wear a badge make some magnitude of scapegoat to strengthen and offer their communities,” Bryant said. “Too often, we remove one of the finest.”
